Doddridge Invitational (MS)
(LKC Preview Meet)
Here is some final information for our meet on Tuesday, September 8, with updates. Please read through this.
Teams: Braxton, Calhoun, Doddridge, Gilmer, Pleasants, Ravenswood, Ritchie,
South Harrison, Tyler Consolidated, & Wirt
Schedule: 4:30pm Boys First Wave
4:35pm Girls Second Wave
5:00pm Boys First Wave
5:05pm Girls Second Wave
Race Procedure: For the first wave of the first race we will allow each team to put in their top 3 boys. We will then fill up the remaining slots with some
# 4’s to fill out the 35-person wave. (We will ask for coaches to volunteer some quality 4’s). This race will start at 4:30. At 4:35 the gun will go off again for a wave of girls that was selected in the same way. There will be separate finishing chutes for the boys and the girls! We will repeat this procedure with the remaining runners; boys at 5:00pm and girls at 5:05pm. There will be 35 X’s marked right behind the starting line. Placement for the first race will be first come, first serve for the top 3 from each team. 4’s will fill the remaining spaces. For the second race it will be first come first serve with the remaining runners. Our race numbers are such that we can get by with 2 races of 2 waves, each. As runners finish they should slow down (no passing in the chute) and walk out of the chute with their number clearly showing. We will not pull tags! We will have workers record the bib numbers as the runners exit the chute.
Entry Fees: $40 for each team ($80 for boys & girls)
$8 per runner if you do not have a full team
Make checks payable to “DCMS Athletics”.
Awards: Medals for individual varsity placers 1 – 20
Plaques for 1st and 2nd places teams
Will not be given out at the meet
Course: Will be the same as the planned LKC middle school course, except we will
run across the creek for this meet, but not for the LKC Meet. The length of
the course will be approximately 3000 meters.
Miscellaneous: We
are asking that masks be worn by spectators at all times. Coaches should wear masks when they are going
to come close to runners, parents, or spectators. They can unmask if they are running with
their runners or running from spot to spot on the course. Runners must wear
masks unless they are running. This would include warming up, running
from the tent to the starting line, racing, & their cool down run. For
Cross Country, even though we are a “yellow” county,
parents, guardians, & siblings can attend! Pre-sold tickets will
be collected at the top of the hill.
