The USTFCCCA (United States Track & Field and cross Country Coaches' Association) has named their State Award winners for the 2019 Cross Country Season. On the boys side of the field, Fairmont Senior's Dayton McVicker takes the honor. McVicker's Polar Bears won the Class A-AA Championship with a hard-fought win over favored Bridgeport and placed 3 runners on the All-State podium, including individual Champion Ethan Kincell. It was Fairmont Senior's 2nd straight title and 2nd straight as an underdog. For the girls, the pick was Morgantown's Mike Ryan. Ryan's Mohigan ladies dominated the field in taking the Class AAA title. They took the top 3 spots on the podium and placed their entire front five in the top 18. The furthered their excellent season by competing at the Nike Southeast Regional where they placed 6th and advanced Athena Young and Lea Hatcher to Nationals. At Nike Nationals, Hatcher placed 32nd and Young placed 48th. Congratulations to these two deserving coaches.
