Good morning Coaches,

Here is information regarding our meet this coming Saturday.  First I want to thank you for attending our meet.  I am bias but I believe we have one of the nicest XC courses in the state.  It is challenging yet fair in its drop of over 100 feet from start to finish.  Spectators can view a large portion of the race.  It is grass and trails.  We have done our best to mark all the roots, rocks and holes and will be blowing leaves out of the trails up to and including Saturday morning.  We want to do as much as possible to insure a safe race.  Our course is easy to follow but will be marked in areas with painted lines to assist the runners.

There is an entry fee charge.  It is $5 a person.  It will be collected at our gate.

Athletes are to be dropped off in the parking lot behind the football press box.  Since there will be no coaches meeting you will receive your packets at that drop-off.  After dropping off the runners the buses will continue around our weight room to the end of the road next to the tennis courts and baseball field and park.  Please tell your bus drivers there will be an area designated for the ambulance service in the same area and to please not block the area.

The area for tents this year will be the soccer field.  This field is located on the hill to the right where athletes are dropped off.  It is below the start line located at the middle school.  Be sure your tent is well inside the course as the course does circle the soccer field.

Please check your students before leaving for our meet as in accordance with WVSSAC guidelines.  And remind your spectators of the mask and social distancing requirements.  We also ask that spectators remain outside of the tent area away from athletes.  We are moving closer to our state meet qualifying races and state meet and we as coaches want our athletes to have a complete season.  Let’s do our part to ensure this does happen.  We also are blocking off our finish line area that is located on our football field in front of the home bleachers.  Please ask spectators to refrain from entering the area around the finish line and water tables.  Restrooms are located at the north end of the football field.  Please observe the entrance signs for athletes and spectators.

We will have three races.  10:30 AM Girls Varsity; 11:15AM Boys Varsity; 12:00PM Combined JV Race.  We will not be having waves as we are only allowing 12 teams and right now are under the 84-runner limit for starting.

Water will be provided in some fashion at the finish line.  But I recommend you consider having water for your athletes there as well.  We have individuals working the finish line.  They will be masked and gloved.  But I ask coaches to be on hand for any athlete that may collapse to assist them from the finish area.

There will not be an awards ceremony per WVSSAC guidelines, but we will have the race scored quickly and awards available to go home with you.  Awards are top 15 individuals in Varsity Women’s and Men’s races and Top 3 teams in Varsity Women’s and Men’s races.

The weather forecast is expecting to be some of the most pleasant weather we have had for our race.  Sunny with the highs only reaching 64.  We had some rain yesterday, but the course should be dry with sunshine forecasted between now and Saturday.

We look forward to hosting all this year and to great and exciting races this Saturday.  If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email, text or call.  My cell number is 304-359-3113.  Please be safe in your traveling.
