Meet: A-AA Boys State Meet Predictions
Location: Cabell Midland High School
Date: To be held November 2, 2019
Predicted A-AA Boys Team Results
This one should be pretty close. I'm a bit surprised at the gap that I show after my picks.
I ended up with Bridgeport winning it by 12 over Fairmont Senior. Bridgeport clearly
had the best Regional showing in the field, and they did knock Fairmont Senior off at the
Chick-Fil-A Invitational. But Fairmont Senior won the battle at the Big 10 Championships.
It should be a lot of fun. I have Winfield in 3rd. It's conceivable that one of the
other two could have a bad meet and Winfield could move into a podium spot, but it's highly
unlikely that Winfield could get them both. It's just as likely that Frankfort could move
past them into 3rd as it is for Winfield to move into 2nd. In the Class A battle, I have
Ritchie taking the top spot by 25 over Doddridge. Doddridge has knocked them off a couple
times during the season, so a switch is possible.

Predicted Boys A-AA Top 25
Ethan Kincell is undefeated against Class A-AA competition on the season. He has not
been unchallenged, though, as Carter Lipscomb has come within 10 seconds of him on a pair
of occasions. Kincell has been able to get away in the late stages all four times the two
have met and gets the clear nod as the favorite. Lipscomb gets the nod for 2nd as Kincell
is the only Class A-AA runner to have beaten him this year. Matthew Scheneberg gets the
3rd spot over Jackson Jacobs. The two aren't separated by much, but they met 3 times this
season, and Scheneberg won the matchup all 3 times, though each was by less than 10 seconds.
Jacobs gets the 4th spot. I went with Logan Zuchelli for the 5th position. He was running
pretty well, and then took a giant step forward at the Bearcat Invitational and has continued
to run exceptionally well since then. Cade Robinson gets the nod for 6th with Tyler Hayes
being the pick for the 7th spot. Hayes did beat both Zuchelli and Robinson at the Big 10
Championships, as the three finished within 3 seconds of each other. I put Garrett Ferguson
into the 8th spot. He has run very well over the last half of the season. I put Noah Ward
in the 9th position. He always seems to put together a solid race at the State Meet. I
gave the 10th spot to Kent Bee. He was right on Ward's heels at the Regional and has beaten
him on occasion and also owns a win over Robinson. I felt really good about putting that front
seven into the top 10. After that, it got really sketchy as solid arguments could be made
for about 20 guys. That should make the battle fun to watch.
