Cross Country Coaches' Advisory Committee Meets

The Cross Country Coaches' Advisory Committee met on November 29th. Before I get into the details, I must remind you that the Advisory Committee is just that...Advisory. Nothing from this meeting is official until the WVSSAC Board of Directors meets and approves it. And that doesn't always happen. Case in point, giving us back our week of track season that passed the Track Advisory Committee and was then rejected by the WVSSAC.

Again, so there's no confusion. None of this is FINAL.

That being said, here are the PROPOSALS that the Committee is sending on to the WVSSAC Board of Directors.

1) There will be a meeting in August at the WVSSAC Office of all CC Regional Directors & Hy-Tek operators. To make sure that Regional Meets are set up and conducted properly.

2) Proposed Regional Sites:

     AAA AA-A
1 Brooke 1 St. Marys
2 Hampshire 2 Doddridge
3 George Washington 3 Pikeview
4 Mineral Wells (PHS to host) 4 Mineral Wells (Williamstown to host)

3) Concerning the AA-A Classification. Overall, the same setup will be used, except the following pretty major change in qualifying:

Class AA & A will still be run together (Regional & State). However, from the group of all class AA teams participating in each regional meet, the standard rules will apply in qualifying for the state meet:

1 full class AA team will give you 1 Class AA team qualifier
2-5 full class AA teams will give you 2 Class AA team qualifiers
6-9 full class AA teams will give you 3 Class AA team qualifiers
10 or more full class AA teams will give you 4 Class AA team qualifiers

Then from the group of all class A teams the standard rules will also apply in qualifying for the state meet:

1 full class A team will give you 1 Class A team qualifier
2-5 full class A teams will give you 2 Class A team qualifiers
6-9 full class A teams will give you 3 Class A team qualifiers
10 or more full class A teams will give you 4 Class A team qualifiers

These proposals will be looked at by the WVSSAC Board of Directors in January, along with other proposals in various sports.
