Welcome to the 2018 “LKC Championship Cross Country Meet”.  We are happy to take a turn and again host the “Greatest Small School Running Show on Turf!”   

 

A few notes for you to consider: (Coaches' Meeting at 4:00pm in front of the stage!)

 

1)      A reminder:  There will be no JV races today!  Run all of your “kids” together in their respective divisions.  Only the top 7 will be counted in the scoring.

2)      Enclosed in your packets are two course maps and numbers for your runners.  Please check for accuracy and make sure that the runners get their numbers.

3)      We should have results available soon after the meet, but if not, results will be posted on the RunWV website as soon as possible.

4)      If you have any problems or questions please let us know (Craig Kellar (Meet management), Josh Weekley (Entries & racing numbers, or Brent Cottrill (Course questions)). 

5)      Custom Medals for placers 1-24 (1st & 2nd team “All-Conference”) will be given out at the conclusion of the meet at the stage area.  The 1st place team trophy and plaques for 1st team all-conference will be given out at the LKC Sports Banquet. Plaques for the boys’ and girls’ 2nd place teams.

6)      The entire high school course is painted with white arrows.  Ignore the orange arrows.  They were for the DCMS Invitational on Tuesday.  Please instruct your runners to run entirely on the marked course for safety, as well as, fairness!

7)      We would like for the athletes to use the swimming pool dressing rooms to change clothes in and/or use the restroom.  For the rest of us, there are restrooms located on the side of the main building and in the small building past the stage near the “counsel circle”. 

8)      Joe Gonzalez and Justin Hayes will be the starters for today’s meet.  Mr. Gonzalez will be the referee.

9)      You will be supplied with a trash bag for the meet.  We would appreciate any help you can give us with the clean-up of your team’s area.  Thanks.

10)  We will not be running "Big Bertha Hill" and will not be crossing the creek.

11)  Concessions and tee-shirts will be available in the basement of the main building.

Additional notes: 

 

1)      The course will be somewhat different from what we ran in September.  The upper parking lot has become unusable due to the beginning of a major slide. Therefore, we will start like we always do, but instead of turning right at the septic system fence, we will proceed on out and do a loop around the school and up that hill behind it.  Then we will go around like we usually do until we get to Bertha. There we will run about 1/3 of the way up tree line hill and then go around the gas well and head up tennis court hill as we usually do.  Everything from there on will be as it usually is, including another loop around the school up that hill and around. We will then finish the race as we usually do.  No creek crossing!

2)      There will be t-shirts on sale for this meet.  There is a basic screen that can be put on 18 different colors, which should include each team’s school color.  We are very excited about this!  Inspire 111 out of Belpre will supply the shirts.  A special thanks to John and Amber Carter!  We hope to post the art work!  They will set up shop under the main building

 

3)       The course was very wet, this evening.  It is supposed to rain a good bit, tonight and tomorrow, as well.  We will probably go to ˝ inch spikes. Most of the course was in decent shape, tonight, except where we go across part of the mud bog area just past the Veteran’s Shelter.  Obviously, more rain will only make things worse.  I do believe, though, that just about everyone’s course will be wet and muddy, tomorrow!
