Remember, this is only how it looks from the rankings heading into the regionals. This is not a prediction based on any analysis of races held during the season. If a team has fewer than five ranked runners, it is assumed that their first unranked runner would finish three places behind the last ranked runner, their second unranked runner would finish six places behind the last ranked runner, etc. Runners run above and below their ranking in every meet, and the Regionals will be no different. The important thing is that if you have five runners, get them to the starting line. If you have seven, get them to the line. Your region may be depending on you.
Region I: This Region should advance four teams. All ten that have had a complete team at any point this season will have to be on the line. Berkeley Springs is the top team. Recently surging Fairmont Senior looks to have a slight advantage over Philip Barbour for the 2nd spot by just 7 points. I show East Fairmont in the 4th position with Frankfort hoping for a good run or for someone else to falter to snag a spot. My best guess is that 18 individual will advance from this Region. The current top 18 are Jessica Melvin, Stephanie Golden, Kierra Hodge, Amanda Lupton, Olga Hawranick, Kyleena Purvis, Mackenzie Stanley, Emily Maddow, Carlina Jacquez, Abby Beeman, Corinna Strietbeck, Gwynn Napier, Jordan Delaney, Adriana Abruzzino, Brianna Williams, Emma Eickleberry, Brooke Davison, and Alex Banks. Those within 60 points of the top 18 that aren't on an expected advancing team include Weir's Abby Cowher (20th), Frankfort's Alisha Sherman (23rd), and Tyler Consolidated's Jahnvi Duncan (24th). Region I has 54 ranked runners.
Region II: This Region should advance three teams. Two of Trinity, Robert C. Byrd, and Braxton have to be on the line to assure that 3rd spot, though. They've each been pretty consistent about running complete teams, so it should be fine. Bridgeport looks like they have a solid grip on the top spot. The fight for 2nd should be a good one. I have Doddridge with a one point advantage over Elkins for that spot. Those two appear to have a gap on the rest of the field. My best guess is that 11 individuals will advance. The current top 11 are Olivia Underwood, Desirae Schoonover, Hannah Moore, Brooke Bennett, Jenna Soltesz, Piper McLaughlin, Sydney Keith, Lavania LeMasters, Emma Campbell, Ellie Sizick, and Adelle Thrush. Not included in that list is Lewis County's Emily Louk, who was removed from the rankings since she hadn't competed since September 3rd. If she is healthy and runs, she almost assuredly gets a spot. Those within 60 points of the top 11 that are not no an expected complete team are Trinity's Emily Saurborn (13th) and Roane's Desiree Kincaid (16th). There are 35 ranked runners in Region II.
Region III: It looks like this Region may advance four teams. In order for that to happen, each team that has ran a complete team at any point during the season must be on the line. Nicholas County appears to be solidly at the top. I show Richwood with a small advantage over Charleston Catholic for the 2nd spot. The 4th spot is pretty up for grabs, but I show Herbert Hoover in that position. Individually, I'm projecting that 16 will advance. The current top 16 are Madison Frame, Caitlin Cowell, Lucianna Martin, Hannah Gacek, Michaela O'Dell, Madison Kelbaugh, Alyssa Woods, Megan Holt, Taylor Wills, Erin Hoyer, Raegan Good, Hannah Toler, Rebecca Sheets, Lacey Beam, Amelia Bard, and Hailey Ross. Those within 60 points of the top 16 that aren't on an expected advancing team are Webster's Sierra King (18th), Westside's Britney Cochran (20th), PikeView's Alexis Sheets (22nd), and Oak Hill's Emma Hines (25th). There are 25 ranked runners in Region III.
Region IV: It looks like this Region will only advance two teams. Winfield is clearly the class of the field. Williamstown appears to have an edge over Buffalo for the 2nd spot. Individually, I'm projecting that 11 will advance. The current top 11 are Savannah Hoff, Madison Michels, Anna Lumadue, Alyssa Rittinger, Kasey McNamara, Carsen Hesson, Emer Carrington, Isabella Robinson, Paige Pursely, Bethany Wager, and Madeline Huffman. Michels hasn't competed since September 24th. If she's unavailable, Allison Henderson is next in line. Those within 60 points of the top 10 who aren't on an expected advancing team are Point Pleasant's Allison Henderson (12th) and Buffalo's Sydney Smith (13th). There are 18 ranked runners in Region IV.
