Mineral Wells, WV on Butcher Bend Rd.
Date: Thursday October 20th,
2016
Time: 4:45- HS Girls varsity race
5:15- HS Boys varsity
race
In the Regional Meet, you may enter up
to 10 runners, but can run only 7 maximum at the regional race. As always, please try to bring at least 5
runners to make a full team, so each region may send as many teams as possible
to states. Five runners must start the
race, but are not required to finish the race, to have a complete team. The team must have competed in a minimum of 5
meets, but there is no minimum for individual runners for regional competition.
Awards: Teams 1st place WVSSAC plaque, 2nd
place trophy
Individuals’ 1 – 10 medals
The
awards’ ceremony will be on site, next to the start/finish area.
Qualifying
for the State Meet:
To qualify as an individual: Each
region will qualify 20% of the number of contestants that start the regional
race to the state meet inclusive of those individuals that qualified as a team
qualifier, with a minimum of 10 individuals qualifying from each region.
Regular math rounding (.5 & up, round up, below .5, round down) will apply.
To qualify as a team: This depends on
how many complete teams (5 or more runners) start in your regional. If only 1
full team starts, only the regional champion qualifies. If 2-5 teams start at
your regional, the top 2 teams qualify. If 6-9 teams start at your regional,
the top 3 teams qualify. If 10 or more teams start at the regional race, the
top 4 teams qualify.
If your team qualifies for states, all
runners submitted for the Regional Meet are automatically submitted to the
state meet. This provides the runner a
state meet tag/jersey number.
Course: The course is run entirely on
grass and is a combination of gently rolling hills and flat areas, which should
provide for very good times. The high school races will be 5,000 meters
Meet Info: The SSAC requires a spectator
admission fee of $6 per adult, $5 per student. Please inform your parents and
fans that this is a SSAC required fee, and NOT initiated by the hosting school.
The admission fees help cover the cost of the medals
and trophies that are NOT provided by the WVSSAC, water and fruit for the
runners and other expenses. Therefore,
there is NOT an entry fee for your team(s) to run.
Change facilities and restrooms will
be on site at the campgrounds. There
will be a large area for school tents and parking. In the event of inclement weather, various
buildings are available for cover for participants as well as spectators. Regional
T-shirts and other appeal will be on sale day of the race. Hot and cold concessions will be
available.
Entries: Per the Interscholastic Entries
must be done using "RaceTimeEntry.com". Mailed or faxed entries will
not be permitted! We will pull entries
on Sunday, October 16. Please make sure
