Coaches,
We are just a few days out from the Huntington High School
Mountaintop Invitational. Right now there are 147 middle school
girls, and 199 middle school boys registered. Those numbers make me a little
nervous so to alleviate the number of runners on the course at one time I am going to add a combined
boys/girls middle school JV race at 9:00am. You can have
up to 10 runners in your varsity race, after that all of your other athletes will
need to run the JV race at 9am. Sorry about the short notice, but I did my best
to not change the times of the other races.
We will have packet pick-up at the concession stand area of our
football stadium. You may set up your tents in the stands on either the
home or visitor side of the bleachers. Unfortunately we do not have a
large grassy area available for a tent city.
We will have a hospitality room set up for coaches and volunteers
in the green building. We will have concessions and t-shirts available.
They will be taking admission at the guard shack at the main
entrance so its possible the
hill will get backed up so please leave extra time in your travel. We
will have multiple people working the admission gate to try and keep everything
moving as quickly as possible.
Below is a description of the course, and attached are pictures of
the route (However, google maps hasn't been updated
since our course was constructed).
The middle school course begins at the practice soccer field and
then takes a left out of the gate and runs along a gravel road and then down a
short hill. The athletes then enter the woods and run have a gradual
downhill, followed by a gradual uphill. Then they will have a
steeper downhill and come out behind the softball field. They will run
behind the softball and baseball field, and then on a trail that runs on the
outside of our stadium. That trial then enters the back of our stadium,
and the athletes will enter the track at the top of the turn and then complete
about 325m on the track to the finish. Google maps has not updated since
we built the course so the attached pictures do not show the
trail.
If you have any questions feel free to email, call, or text.
Thanks,
Justin Cox
