Invitational
MEET WEBSITE: http://www.bridgeporttrack.com/hosted-events/charles-pointe-indian-run/
August 27, 2016
The 2016 Charles Pointe - Indian Run
Invitational will be hosted by Bridgeport High School at the Bridgeport
Recreation Complex located along Rt. 131 in Bridgeport on Saturday August 27
2016. The newly redesigned one loop course for 2016 is even more spectator friendly and removes
the large hill so it will be very fast. The race will start and finish in
the fields across the road from the Rec Complex and will consist of 3.1 miles
(5K) of rolling hills and scenic meadows for the HS race. The Middle
School race will be a 3K race.
Cars will be able to park at the
Bridgeport Recreation Complex on a first come first serve basis. Buses
will drop teams at the Complex and will then be parking off-site. Bus
Shuttle Service will be available all day for those that park at Bridgeport
High School, Bridgeport Middle School, Johnson Elementary and Wayne Jamison
Field. Tickets will be sold as you board the bus and you will be dropped
inside the complex at the top of the hill avoiding long ticket lines and climbing
the complex hill.
Tent City will be on the
Multipurpose Field. Restroom facilities and Concessions will be available
adjacent to the Multipurpose Field. T-shirts will be available for sale
on a first come first serve basis. Spectators will be charged a small
entry fee ($5.00).
The awards ceremonies will be held
next to and above the Multipurpose Field near the concession stand.
Awards will consist of first, second and third place team awards and
medals for the top 20 in the High School Boys and Girls races and the Middle
School Boys and Girls races. All athletes will be timed. Between
awards ceremonies we hope to have live bands, singers and DJ’s performing all
day.
We will be having a
new feature at the meet this year. The “College Coaches Corner” will
provide you an opportunity to meet a host of college coaches from across the
state and hopefully beyond. You, your athletes and their parents can talk
recruiting, as well as receive information and literature on the various
programs, schools, camps, clinics, etc. Plus it will provide your
athletes a chance to seen first hand by these
coaches. This is an opportunity you don’t want to pass up. So far,
we have tentative committments from the following
coaches and schools:
Sean Cleary - West
Virginia University
Kaylyn Christopher - Fairmont State
University
Nick Bias - University
of Charleston
Caleb Bowen - Marshall
University
Jesse Skiles - West
Virginia Wesleyan College Jason
Pyles - Davis & Elkins College
Jesse Weiner -
Alderson Broaddus University
Earl Graves - Alderson Broaddus University
Ricky Moore - Wheeling
Jesuit University
Again this year we
will again be holding our Open Cross Country 5K race. It will be open to
coaches, parents and the general public. The participants will run the
same course as the High School athletes. An entry fee of $10.00 per
runner will be charged if pre-registered. Race Day registration will be
$15.00 The race will be limited to the first 200
entries. There will be no age grouping. T-Shirts will be available
for purchase. Male and female athletes will run together. The top
