Meet: AAA Girls State Meet Predictions
Location: Cabell Midland High School
Date: To be held October 31, 2015
Predicted AAA Girls Team Results
There are several question marks in this one. Will University perform at the State Meet as
they have in years past? Is Hurricane at full strenght, having completed the Regional
without 3 of their top 5? Can Morgantown make a run at either of them? University has
quite the history of getting the job done, and they were given the benefit of the doubt
pretty much across the board, knowing that their rankings were deflated due to some tempo
meets. If Hurricane is at full health and runs well, this could go either way. Morgantown
could easily crack into the top 2 and could have a shot at winning it with a blowout meet.
I have Cabell Midland edging Hampshire for 4th by just 5 points. That could certainly go
either way as well.

Predicted AAA Girls Top 25
Abby Colbert is the defending champion, top ranked by a lot, and performs exceptionally
well at the State Meet. Olivia Collett has been exceptional all season and won the Regional
by 25 seconds and the MSAC by over 30. TaShala Turner beat Collett at the season opener
and was 2nd in a very strong Region 1 field. Hannah Lipps is the 3rd ranked girl but
outside of Colbert, she hasn't gotten to race most of the other top level girls since
her opener on 8/26, where she was beaten by Turner and Collett, not that meets from two
months ago have a whole lot of relevance at this point. Skylar Brooks has also been
strong from start to finish this season. Jessie Hogbin has put together a very solid
season. Anna Gordon is one of the question marks. She fell at her Regional and didn't
finish. I haven't heard her status for the State Meet. If she's not 100%, she could
drop significantly. Abby Herring is a little bit of a wildcard. She has really come
on late in the season with great runs at the OVAC Championships and TRAC Championships,
where she beat Brooks on both occasions, and another strong run at the Regional Meet.
Sarah Wills is really a wildcard. She had a very rough start to the season and dropped
a lot in the rankings, but she ran exceptionally well at the OVAC and Regional meets,
finishing within about 5 seconds of Brooks on both occasions. She's another that historically
runs very well at the State Meet. I put Savannah Hoff in the final podium spot, largely
on her Regional win. I think the list of possibilities for a top 10 spot stretches
all the way through the top 25.
