Good Morning To All,
Webster County High School is excited that your teams will
be participating in the Big Ditch Lake Invitational on Saturday. Below
are a few notes for coaches, athletes, and parents. If you have any
questions please call or email me before Saturday.
1) BUS PARKING - all buses will drop off
athletes/coaches at parking lot entrance. Buses will then proceed to
Webster County High School to be parked. COACHES, please be sure to have
a phone number or an exact time for your bus drivers to pick up students.
NO buses will be allowed in parking lot at any time.
2) SPECTATOR PARKING - cars will be
parked at the lake FIRST, we have 2 parking lots we
will fill plus some additional parking along road. Once
all of these spots are filled ALL cars will be directed to GLADE ELEMENTARY
SCHOOL in Cowen, WV. We will have a shuttle bus running passengers
from Glade to the Lake. ALSO, restroom facilities will be open at glade
for any spectator, athlete, or coach to use. Glade is approximately 1
mile from the lake!!
3) RESTROOM FACILITIES - at the lake we will only
have restroom facilities beside the starting line.
Due to Big Ditch Lake being on National Wildlife Refuge area they will
not allow us to bring in Portable Restrooms. WARNING - restrooms are not
the greatest!!! This being said, I HIGHLY SUGGEST all your athletes come
prepared in their warm ups/racing gear. We will also have Restroom
facilities open at glade for any team or spectator who would like to change or
needs facilities.
4) TENTS - all tents will be set up in grassy area
passed concession stand area. Please try to set up tents above all picnic
tables so that spectators have room to watch start.
5) CONCESSIONS - we will have concessions ALL day.
Wide variety of food and drinks will be provided,
ALL items are $1....
6) T-SHIRTS - will be sold until last shirt is sold,
all shirts are $10!!!
7) ADMISSION - we will NOT take admission when you
PARK, however we will be charging $5 per car/family. When you enter the
starting area there will be a table taking admission, PLEASE pay at the table.
8) 5K FUN RUN - please make all parents, alumni,
coaches, etc. that we will be having a FREE 5K Fun Run at 10:00 between the HS
and MS races. Top 5 Females/Males in each race will receive an award.
This is always a FUN race for all involved.
9) COURSE - is in good shape and will work hard
remainder of week to have it looking pristine. First half is relatively
flat with a few rolls, you then will hit DEERBERRY which is a pretty tough
incline with a decline starting immediately at the top, and the last bit is
QUICK with a nice fast 200 meter finish. Starting Line is narrow and
funnels quickly. COACHES, there are not a ton of places to see athletes
during race - prepare them if they are use to hearing
your voice. ATHLETES, you will LOVE not being able to be surrounded by
family/coaches.
10) ENTRIES - HS Boys - 153, HS Girls - 129, MS Boys
- 67, MS Girls - 109
The weather forecast for this weekend looks awesome, will be
a fun Saturday with friends. Again, if you have any questions please let
