Meet: A-AA Boys State Meet Predictions
Location: Cabell Midland High School
Date: To be held October 27, 2012
Predicted A-AA Boys Team Results
This is likely Fairmont Senior's race to lose. Their depth gives them some room for
error. I have Philip Barbour edging Frankfort for 2nd by a single point. Great days
by either and an off day by Fairmont Senior could open this up, but I have Fairmont
Senior with a 31 point cushion. I have Brdgeport in fairly solid control of 4th. The
top 5 or 6 could work their way onto the podium with great days.
1. Fairmont Senior 78
2. Philip Barbour 109
3. Frankfort 110
4. Bridgeport 130
5. Doddridge 149
6. Buffalo 161
7. Charleston Catholic 171
8. Williamstown 188
9. St. Marys 193
10. Keyser 230
11. Westside 285
12. Sherman 294
13. Wirt 309
14. Liberty Raleigh 353
Predicted Boys A-AA Top 25
Nick Trefz has been the one to beat since the beginning. He wasn't always ranked at the top, but he's
been the one to beat. He is a very solid favorite with no A-AA runner having been closer than 14
seconds to him all season. Johnny Hogue is the one who has come closest to him. Hogue's only losses
to A-AA Runners have been to Trefz. Caleb Moore has run very strong late in the season and has been
within 10 seconds of Hogue on a multitude of occasions. Will Shaffer was the runner-up last season
and is ranked ahead of Moore. Moore beat him fairly soundly at their most recent meeting, though.
Shaffer is very much a threat for the top 2. Marcus Black has been a very steady performer all season
and has run within 10 seconds of Shaffer a couple times. Jordan Whitehair has been coming on very
strong late in the season after a rough start. Abe Merinar is another who has come on very strong
late in the season. Jason Weitzel is ranked ahead of both Whitehair and Merinar and could easily move
up the charts. A top 5 is not out of the question. Brettley Harris is also ranked ahead of both
Whitehair and Merinar. Whitehair beat him at the Regional, though. P.J. Louzy gets the nod for the
10th position despite a very rough regional. He's been very steady all season prior to that. I feel
like the top 15 have very legitimate shots at cracking the top 10. Outside that, it will take a super
run.
