A First Crack at Realignment

I took a few minutes today (and I do mean literally a few minutes) and took a first attempt at a possible Regional Realignment based on the new Classifications. A did not have a map in front of me at the time, and I haven't taken the time to find one since I did this. I also want to specifically state that this isn't what I think will happen. I haven't heard any rumors. This is simply a preliminary look at one possibility.

Class AAA

Region I - This region loses East Fairmont, Fairmont Senior, and North Marion. I think that Preston could also be moved out of this Region. My possible scenario brings Parkersburg, Parkersburg South and Ripley up from Region IV.

Region II - This region loses Bridgeport and Robert C. Byrd. This is where I have Preston landing.

Region III - This region loses Nicholas County. I think Oak Hill and Shady Spring go here, and I have Nitro and St. Albans moving over to Region IV.

Region IV - This region probably gains Point Pleasant. I have them losing Parkersburg, Parkersburg South, and Ripley and gaining Nitro and St. Albans

Class A-AA

Region I - I actually have no changes in this Region.

Region II - I have this Region gaining Fairmont Senior, East Fairmont, North Marion, Bridgeport, and Robert C. Byrd. That means someone has to go. I have Philip Barbour, Tucker, and Pendleton moving out.

Region III - This region loses Oak Hill and Shady Spring. I think Nicholas lands here, and I moved Philip Barbour, Tucker, and Pendleton here.

Region IV - This region loses Point Pleasant. I didn't replace them.

Some general notes. I don't like the look of this in terms of competitive balance. It looks like it actually makes the competitive balance worse than what it already is. Unfortunately, the WVSSAC claims that competitive balance is not one of their priorities. It's all about geographic balance (although it's absolutely fine for a playoff football game for Huntington to go to Martinsburg, etc.). Again, this is just one scenario. I might add another possibility later.
