Meet: AAA Girls State Meet Predictions
Location: Cabell Midland High School
Date: To be held October 31, 2009
Predicted AAA Girls Team Results
Hurricane has been the clear #1 throughtout the season, but don't believe for a second that this is
a foregone conclusion. They were the solid favorite last year as well before University knocked them
off at the State Meet. And don't look now, but University has started coming on strong with good
performances at the Conference and Regional Meets. However, they're not the biggest threat. Jefferson
is very strong, and if they get good runs from the front four and a step-up run from Emilie Myers, they
could easily take the title. A lot of the positioning from 10 to 45 is shaky. If a runner is off by
10 seconds, they could lose 10 spots. If a runner has a good day, they could easily move up 10 or
15 places. Those are the moves that will determine the title. The bottom line is that if Hurricane
runs well, they'll be very hard to beat. If Jefferson gets the step-up performance or if University
can get a couple big time runs, they'll be right in the hunt. North Marion looked like they were
stepping up to be a contender mid-season, but they seem to have tailed off a bit. They may have to
fight with Preston and Cabell Midland for the 4th spot.

Predicted AAA Girls Top 25
This is actually a little tough. Letitia Propst is the two-time defending champion. She was
injured over the first half of the season and is definitely not at the same level she was last year.
However, she is still undefeated. Alex Dent took over the top ranking spot with an excellent
Regional run. Ultimately, I decided that until someone proves that they can beat Propst, she has
to be considered the favorite. She can't sit too far back though or Dent may get away. Alyssa
Boucher and Andrea Nickerson have been excellent all season long and could be waiting to pounce
if either Propst or Dent give them a chance. Lydia Martinelli isn't the next best ranked, but in
the meets in which she's really pressed, she's been excellent. She's a big-meet performer. Chelsea
Clark beat Martinelli fairly soundly at the conference and Regional meets, so her moving into the
top five would not be a shock. Crouch is solid and beat Clark at the Geico Classic. Whitney Lewis
had the 3rd best Regional run in the field, knocking off Boucher and Nickerson in the process.
Erica Voreh has been solid all year. Jordan McDonald was running top 5 caliber races before illness
knocked her down. I don't know if she's over it yet, but I'm afraid not to put her in the top 10
because she might be in the top 5. Carissa Guyer owns wins over McDonald, Crouch, Lewis, Boucher,
Clark, and Voreh. If she's having a good day, she could move up considerably. Jorden Thornton
beat Crouch at the Regional. Alyssa Scherich owns a pair of recent wins over McDonald. Lindsey
Hash had the 10th best regional run. On the right day, a lot of runners could crack the top 10.
